Ok, I'm an older musician. Bought this 8 years ago just to have some small form factor radio I could use in my studio with good sound. Didn't want any massive stereo system, hell, I have 3 full blown PA's in there, Yamaha Studio monitors and a BOSE Tower array system. I just wanted to listen to my favorite radio station (92.1 KNBT in New Braunfels, tx.) every now and then, and I wanted a small radio with good sound.Right of the bat I was happy with this. Nice fidelity. I'm not into high bass levels, I don't do rap/hip hop, etc. I am an acoustic musician and I like hearing the full range of sound. This was like...perfect for my needs. With a surprise...A few years later Bluetooth became all the rage. Well, it might of been the rage before 2015, but I'm old and don't keep up. So, a few later when I finally caught on to the bluetooth thing, I bought a few bluetooth speakers. Mostly so I could take them with me for rehearsals and we could listen to internet recordings/songs on something besides laptop speakers. I was getting used to bluetooth so I found myself streaming internet stuff from my laptop in my studio to the bluetooth speakers as well. Cool stuff.Well, I was never totally happy with the bluetooth speakers...and I've had a bunch. From Bose, to JBL, to Tidbit, etc..etc. They do the job...but, eh. Well, guess what? I found out my old Sangean had bluetooth...and it's right there in the Studio with me. I hooked it up and it just blew away every bluetooth speaker I had. Even the supposedly good expensive ones. Now, I've just ordered another Bluetooth speaker, the Bose "flex"...cuz I still like putting one in my gig bag for rehearsals and for portability. So, I'll compare the supposed top dog in small bluetooth speakers to the Sangean in a couple of days. Not to see how good the Sangean is...but, to see how good the Bose is. I know how good the Sagean is.It's been 8 years. Not a lick of problems. And it still sounds better than anything in its price range I've put it against. It's not so portable...but, for what it is, I find it pretty damn amazing.UPDATE: 2-16-23: Just got the BOSE FLEX bluetooth speaker and did a head to head comparison. And it was so close I almost couldn't tell the difference. In the end, the SANGEAN was a little better on the highs and overall Clarity. Bose had the "big sound trying to come out of a small box" thing going on that all these type of units have. But, the Bose was by far the best one I've yet seen/heard. It was very good indeed. It may have been a tad louder too (it was close)...but, tended to distort more than the Sangean at max volume.Highly recommend this thing...and the Bose Flex too.SF
