Velleman HPS50 Handheld Digital Oscilloscope - Portable USB Oscilloscope for Electronics Testing | Ideal for DIY Projects, Circuit Debugging & Engineering Education

I bought this to use for automotive testing. I am an ASE certified technician and many modern sensors can only be accurately tested with an oscilloscope. Also, some systems are just easier to test with a scope and the scope will give much more information than other methods in the right hands. I moved and the shop I began working at did not have a scope or intend to invest in one. I needed a reliable scope that had a small enough bandwidth to not receive interference from the very electrically noisy automotive environment. Also, I wanted the scope to have a high enough sampling rate to catch glitch events as well as the very short but information rich ignition signals and injection signals. I will say that the detail is somewhat lacking on this unit. However, it has delivered in every other area (after an investment in better leads). Even, with the lack of detail it has never left me unsure of a diagnosis. With a price point that is less than a good automotive multimeter you can't go wrong. Definitely a great personal scope for the diagnostic technician that doesn't have access to a more expensive meter or who would like a portable alternative.
